Allen Mural"Castle Garden" by Artist, Linda Freel: Interior of Storytime Room, Childrens services: The mural, titled "Castle Garden," is painted in acrylics directly on the wall of the Storytime Room from preparatory sketches done at home from the artist' s garden. The image is a realistic rendition of an outer castle wall with the crenelations above the actual library windows. The garden includes realistic flowers, animals, birds and butterflies native to the Midwest. It is a group of images that small children will be able to recognize and will compliment the stories without being distracting. The mural will be bright and cheerful all year.

Ms. Freel is an active area artist and an instructor of graphic design at IVY Tech. She received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and studied undergraduate art at IUSB. She taught a variety of art classes for many years at the South Bend Regional Museum of Art. She has had many exhibits of her art in this region and is a frequent participant and prize winner in juried art exhibits. She is represented by Zaks Gallery in Chicago, Gallery North in New Buffalo, Michigan and Art Market Sales and Rental Gallery in South Bend.
